Overview
Early in 1988, a dedicated group of engineers began laying the foundation for the formation of Commonwealth Associates, Inc. (CAI). These individuals had worked closely together on domestic and foreign electrical transmission and distribution (T&D) projects for many years out of the Jackson, Michigan, office of a major engineering firm. When that firm decided to close its Jackson office, the group took action to maintain a name that was--and remains--well-known and respected in the electrical power industry. The group devoted itself to structuring a new company with the intent of upholding the previous Commonwealth Associates, Inc.’s reputation for providing high-quality engineering and consulting services. Other talented individuals, many of whom had worked previously with the founders of the company, were brought in to lend their expertise in the T&D field. In 1992, CAI opened a regional office in the state of Washington to serve clients in the northwestern United States. In addition to smaller satellite offices, we recently opened an office in Kennesaw, Georgia to serve our clients in the Southeast more effectively. Today, CAI continues to grow--in number of staff and in prestige in the T&D industry. We continually assess our staff and tools to ensure we are properly equipped to meet our clients’ project needs, and we are proud to offer one of the most skilled, experienced technical resources available to design power delivery projects.
