Transmission Line Engineer - 2-5 years experience

Transmission Line Engineer with a BS or MS in Civil or Structural Engineering to perform civil and structural engineering tasks relating to the design of high-voltage transmission lines, including route selection, structure design, foundation design, material specification, construction bid document preparation and design/construction liaison Duties would include using state-of-the-art computers and software (including PLS-CADD), writing reports, working directly with clients and visiting project sites. This mid-level position is for a candidate with 2-5 years of transmission design experience. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with appropriate education, ambition and a desire to grow professionally. Candidate must be willing to become professionally registered when eligible.

Substation Electrical Engineer

Commonwealth is seeking candidates who have a BSEE degree and 5 or more years of experience in the design of high-voltage substation facilities rated 12.5 kV and above, preferably with an electrical utility or consulting engineering firm. Experience with protection, controls, metering, and instrumentation; substation outdoor arrangements and layout; and substation major equipment and specifications are desired. Candidates should also have experience in writing proposals and technical reports, interacting with clients and experience leading teams of professional co-workers. Candidates must hold an Ohio Professional Engineering license, or the ability to become licensed in Ohio within 6 months.

Transmission Line Engineer

Commonwealth Associates, Inc. has an opportunity available for a TRANSMISSION LINE Engineer in our Columbus, OH office. As a successful candidate you will have...

• 1-3 years of experience in civil/structural or electrical engineering.
• BSCE or BSEE required
• Proven ability to follow direction and perform duties as assigned
• Experience in civil engineering field
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Critical Skills:

• EIT certification
• BS or MS in related engineering field (BSEE or BSCE)
• A minimum of 1 entry level engineering
• Understanding of concrete foundation design is desirable
• Experience in field work is a plus

This position will report to a section manager in the Transmission Line organization in the Columbus, OH Office. In this role, the individual must be comfortable following direction and interpreting desired results from communications with the section manager. This position is a beginning point for consulting engineers who have a desire to grow and advance in the power industry. The right candidate will have the technical skills as well as the communication skills to lead and eventually manage projects independently.
