KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree, project management/business analyst experience. Consulting, service oriented and/or utility experience helpful. Minimum 4 years prior IT experience required. Experience with VMWare, Linus and Windows operating systems and servers, ActiveDirectory, KACE, Exchange preferred. Excellent interpersonal relations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work independently without supervision; report to work on time and work additional hours as may be needed
- Manage multiple and sometimes conflicting projects and deadlines
- Evaluate, procure, maintain and install hardware and software, including peripheral, output, and other equipment
- Provide support for the business processes and functions
- Administer user accounts, passwords, security policies, email, and FTP, shell and batch scripting
- Participate in standard software patch solution implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and conversions

Electrical Engineer – System Protection
ELECTRICAL ENGINEER for employment in the Electrical Systems Department for transmission system protective relay settings, protection & control design and system protection studies. The candidate should have electric utility high voltage transmission system experience with regard to the development of protective relay settings basis documents, protective relay coordination studies, transmission system short-circuit modeling and analysis, knowledge of AC & DC schematics and field experience in commissioning relaying systems and troubleshooting problems. Knowledge of Arc Flash studies is also desirable but not required. The preferred candidate will have a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering specializing in power systems, five to fifteen years experience in utility high voltage transmission system protection, is registered as a Professional Engineer or is qualified to become registered, has the ability to communicate effectively in writing and speaking, and is capable of managing protective relaying related projects. This entry-level position offers you the opportunity to participate with an I&C engineering and design team engaged in the design of distributed control systems involving modern plants, modifications to existing power generation facilities, and existing plant systems betterment projects.
The engineering candidate will be trained to:
- prepare process instrumentation component specifications
- sizing of final control elements
- create, apply and commission distributed control systems and programmable logic controllers.
Your I&C related work assignments will provide a familiarity with motor control schematics, preparation of procurement specifications, plant walk-down evaluation techniques, scheduling and cost estimating.
In addition, this I&C candidate will have excellent cross-discipline, communication skills, computer database maintenance skills, and the ability to participate in multi-discipline discussions involving large or small projects.
Educational & Experience Requirements:
2+ years in an engineering co-op desired
Pursuit of PE license within 3-5 years
BS or MS degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university

Commonwealth is seeking candidates who have a BSEE degree and 5 or more years of experience in the design of high-voltage substation facilities rated 12.5 kV and above, preferably with an electrical utility or consulting engineering firm. Experience with protection, controls, metering, and instrumentation; substation outdoor arrangements and layout; and substation major equipment and specifications are desired. Candidates should also have experience in writing proposals and technical reports, interacting with clients and experience leading teams of professional co-workers. Candidates must hold a Professional Engineering license, or the ability to become licensed within 6 months.
