Organizational:

This position reports to the assigned Section Manager.

Objective:

The successful candidate will provide transmission line engineering services, as assigned. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with appropriate education, ambition, and a desire to grow professionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform civil and structural engineering tasks related to the design of high-voltage transmission lines, including route selection, structure design, foundation design, material specification, construction bid document preparation, and design/construction liaison
  • Serve as the Lead Project Engineer on small projects
  • Using state-of-the-art computers and software (including PLS-CADD)
  • Writing reports
  • Working directly with clients
  • Visiting project sites

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program required. Professional Engineer (PE) license required. At least three years of related experience demonstrating continuous growth and knowledge expansion, delivering 3-5 multifaceted projects simultaneously, and overseeing technical aspects of projects. Experience with PLS-CADD required. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the United States.

Objective:

The experienced Engineer - Team Leader 4 develops and applies engineering techniques, concepts and approaches to complex and unique engineering problems. A person in this role is recognized as a key internal reference point for technical guidance through depth and breadth of knowledge and may be required to provide technical guidance over a group of colleagues, CAD, and administrative staff on projects of medium to high complexity. This role is also responsible for developing, validating, and presenting technical output and may provide leadership for development of deliverables to clients. People management responsibilities include supervising a group of engineers, CAD, or administrative staff working on medium-scope single or multi-discipline projects, or personnel of an operations department. Management responsibilities may extend to multiple locations and includes accountability for talent development, quality work production, and overall compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages engineering design-related aspects of a multi-discipline project or multiple small to medium projects, including engineering schedule and budget performance, quality of engineering solutions and deliverables, coordination or design, procurement, and construction.
  • Oversees and participates in the collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work.
  • Coordinates all technical aspects of projects and makes project engineering execution decisions within the bounds set by applicable policies, standards, guides and contract commitments
  • Independently applies advanced engineering techniques and analysis problems and methods.
  • Prepares a variety of complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications and studies with limited supervision for moderately complex or multiple projects.
  • Support Business Development by providing technical information for sales proposals, or by pursuing other related activates as assigned by department managers.

Objective:

Commonwealth Associates, Inc. currently serves clients in the oil & gas industry from our traditional engineering disciplines within our Power Generation and Energy division and wishes to answer our oil & gas client's call to provide more natural gas compression and process equipment design scope to the projects. The intent of this position would be to integrate into power generation project work and establish cross-functional capability while growing our scope within the gas transmission and storage industry. The candidate should therefore be a person who is looking to learn and add capabilities to their skill base.

Responsibilities:

  • Working knowledge of B31.8 and with applicable codes such as ASME B31.3, B31.4 and DOT Parts 192 and Part 195, and API specifications
  • Preparation of various process calculations including pipe sizing, control valve and equipment sizing
  • Trouble-shooting existing systems in the field, determine modifications to existing systems to change performance, etc.
  • Prepares piping flow diagrams and directs equipment layouts
  • Prepares technical mechanical specifications
  • Prepares mechanical data sheets and equipment descriptions/sizing
  • Preparation of various facility studies including pipe, valve, and equipment sizing
  • Coordination with clients, vendors, and subcontractors, as required
  • Utilizes specific software packages including Microsoft products and piping stress analysis and pressure drop software
  • Prepares material requisitions
  • Performs design calculations and cost estimates
  • Prepare process equipment specifications and selection by generating P&ID's and PFD's, technical specifications, data sheets, and requests for quotation (Process Equipment includes compressors, pumps, separators, filters, heat exchangers, and storage tanks)
  • Perform technical analysis of bids and review of vendor drawings
  • Preparation of client proposals and project cost estimates

Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, from an ABET accredited program; excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong analytical and problem solving skills; and licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) required. This position requires an experienced and competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Responsibilities:

  • Lead multi-disciplined teams and work effectively across multiple offices
  • Responsible for preparing plans, specifications, cost estimates, studies, and be able to take projects from inception to completion
  • Facilitate environmental permits for power projects on behalf of clients
  • Develop economic pro formas in support of project development
  • Identify new clients and opportunities while maintaining existing relationships and performing general marketing of the company
