Lenawee County, MI Airport
The Lenawee County Airport required relocation of various property owners to expand the necessary runway protection zone for the Airport. Commonwealth provided relocation services to the Airport which included twelve property owners relocation for Phase One of the project. Commonwealth acquired various parcels located in the initial Runway Protection Zone. Services provided included replacement housing determinations, incidental expense determinations, move cost estimates, title reports, preliminary interviews, environmental work as well as providing asbestos and demolition related services. Commonwealth provided advisory services when needed.
After the vacation of the acquired properties, Commonwealth oversaw sub-contracting actions for salvage operations including the demolition of the structures located in the project area. Several agencies, vendors, and realtors participated with Commonwealth to provide assistance and support for this project. Funding for this project was through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP) and Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), with the balance of the project financed with local capital. The runway protection zone expansion for the Lenawee County Airport was completed and meets the Airport requirements.
