42-MILE SINGLE-CIRCUIT WOOD H-FRAME DESIGN AND FIBER OPTICS PROJECT

American Energy, Inc. needed new high voltage transmission lines to interconnect new wind generation into the electrical grid to safely and reliably deliver the clean wind energy to their customers. Commonwealth provided PLS-CADD computer modeling, analysis, and design of a 42-mile single-circuit 230 kV wood H-frame design with some steel pole angles and full-length OPGW fiber optics which is associated with Renewable Energy System’s Cedar Point Wind Farm. Ground elevations along the transmission corridor range from approximately 4900 to 5850 feet above sea level with extreme ambient temperatures reported at -33 to 106 degrees Fahrenheit. This project included coordination of right-of-way acquisition, design survey, and geotechnical work. This 42-mile Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) project was engineered, constructed and ready to energize in 10 months.

10-MILE SINGLE-CIRCUIT WOOD H-FRAME DESIGN AND FIBER OPTICS PROJECT

American Energy, Inc. needed new high voltage transmission lines to interconnect new wind generation into the electrical grid to safely and reliably deliver the clean wind energy to their customers. Commonwealth provided PLS-CADD computer modeling, analysis, and design of a 10-mile single-circuit 230 kV wood H-frame design, 795 kCM, and a full-length OPGW fiber optic line. This project included the coordination of the design survey. PacifiCorp owns the line. The project included wetland mitigation, raptorcompliant structure design, and Red Tail Hawk Nesting.

9-MILE SINGLE CIRCUIT WOOD H-FRAME DESIGN AND FIBER OPTICS PROJECT

American Energy, Inc. needed new high voltage transmission lines to interconnect new wind generation into the electrical grid to safely and reliably deliver the clean wind energy to their customers. Commonwealth provided engineering and design as part of a design/build team for a nine-mile 230 kV wood H-frame line that connects the new Wild Horse Wind Energy Complex located in central Washington to a Puget Sound Energy (PSE) substation. This project included full-length OPGW fiber optic cable and coordination of the design survey.

We are committed, both as a firm, and as individuals to influencing and shaping the secure energy future.
