Municipal Electric Authority Of Georgia (MEAG)
Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia (MEAG) continues to develop a statewide fiber optic network to supply advanced telecommunications services to meet the needs of the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia, as well as those of the municipalities it serves. The proposed Georgia Fiber Optic Network was to be developed in two phases.
Commonwealth provided various services for Phase I of the project. Commonwealth performed field inspection and facilities data acquisition for the 600-mile fiber optic transmission line rights-of-way, including GIS/GPS digitized mapping of the network and access to the fiber facilities for construction. The evaluation and engineering design of optical ground wire (OPT-GW) on existing transmission line facilities, evaluation and engineering design of all-dielectric self-support (ADSS) fiber optic cable on existing transmission line facilities, and engineering design of fiber network extensions to telecommunications equipment buildings was provided by Commonwealth. The preparation of bills of material and RFP documents for material, construction, and construction management of the fiber optic network was provided by Commonwealth.
