Kristi Vilminot Named to SWE Women Engineers You Should Know — 2026

Celebrating a National Recognition for Kristi Vilminot, P.E.

Commonwealth Associates is proud to recognize Kristi Vilminot, P.E., Director of Engineering in our Power Generation group, for being named to the Society of Women Engineers’ Women Engineers You Should Know — 2026. This national recognition highlights engineers whose work is advancing the profession through leadership, technical excellence, and measurable impact.

At Commonwealth, we understand that meaningful progress in the energy industry is driven by people who combine deep technical expertise with a commitment to partnership. Kristi exemplifies that standard, bringing more than three decades of experience to projects that strengthen the reliability, safety, and efficiency of critical energy infrastructure.

A Career Defined by Impact Across the Energy Landscape

With 35 years of experience in power engineering, Kristi has supported and led complex projects across a diverse range of generation technologies, including coal, biomass, combined cycle, combined heat and power (CHP), battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar, and nuclear. Her work in system piping design supports the performance and longevity of facilities that power communities and industries nationwide.

These contributions align closely with Commonwealth’s broader mission to deliver comprehensive power generation solutions that help clients optimize operations and navigate an increasingly complex energy environment.

Leadership in Engineering Standards and Industry Advancement

Kristi’s influence extends beyond individual projects into the very standards that govern engineering practice. She has dedicated more than 26 years to the ASME B31.1 Power Piping Code Committee, serving in key leadership roles including Chair and Vice Chair, and currently serves as Chair of the broader ASME B31 Standards Committee.

The ASME B31 standards play a critical role in defining requirements for the design, fabrication, inspection, and operation of pressure piping systems across industries such as power generation, manufacturing, and pipeline infrastructure.

In 2025, Kristi was also recognized as a Master of Power Piping, reflecting her sustained technical contributions and leadership within the field.

Recognized as an “Unsung Hero” in Engineering

In its feature, SWE describes this year’s honorees as individuals who “train the spotlight on the problem, not themselves,” recognizing those whose influence is often felt more than it is seen.

Kristi embodies this spirit. While much of her work takes place behind the scenes—through codes, standards, and system design—the impact is far-reaching. Her contributions help ensure that energy systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably, forming the backbone of modern infrastructure.

The Power of Partnership

At Commonwealth, we believe The power of partnership is realized through professionals who lead with expertise, integrity, and a commitment to advancing the industry. Kristi’s recognition by SWE reflects not only her individual achievements, but also the collaborative, forward-thinking approach that defines our work.

Please join us in congratulating Kristi Vilminot, P.E., on this well-deserved national recognition.
