University of Michigan
University of Michigan needed a life safety study performed on their Central Power Plant to ensure proper safety measures are met. Commonwealth was responsible for comprehensive field observations, analysis and report to establish options for plant upgrades for the entire Central Power Plant fire protection, suppression, life safety, egress, and hazardous material storage. The study involved review of existing documentation, field study, code and engineering analysis of existing conditions and upgrade options, priorities for upgrades, and conceptual opinion of cost for upgrade options. The hazardous material storage required evaluation of plant chemical storage as well as acid and caustic storage areas and segregation from the plant operating floors. Commonwealth assisted in establishing upgrade priorities in conjunction with the University of Michigan team to evaluate optimum use of available funding.
