University of Michigan
Commonwealth performed full commissioning services in support of the project to upgrade electrical services for University of Michigan’s Matthaei Botanical Gardens Facility located at Dixboro Road near University of Michigan’s North Campus. The project scope included replacing the primary service, main distribution panel and installing a Life Safety ATS. Existing indoor single phase transformers and utility metering were decommissioned and replaced with an outdoor 3-phase transformer. Additionally, existing receptacle panels were replaced and life safety loads were reconfigured to be powered from an existing genset through the new ATS. A challenge overcome during the project involved transformer delivery and utility coordination to move an electrical pole and short building outages as the building was maintained fully operational during the project. Coordination with building coordinator, utility, commissioning agent and testing sub-contractors led to a successful project completion.
