Commonwealth is providing Owner’s Engineering services to assist MillerCoors in determining the most cost effective means of providing their future steam and electric needs. MillerCoors currently receives steam and electricity from a third-party energy supplier at their brewery in Golden, CO. Commonwealth evaluated combined heat and power (CHP) plant performance for numerous cycle configurations and combustion turbine technologies to determine the optimal design based on the brewery’s electric and thermal demands. Commonwealth also evaluated a steam boiler only option that would provide steam to the brewery with all electricity purchased from the utility.
Commonwealth services performed include performance analysis and cycle design, electric and thermal demand analysis, and life-cycle pro forma feasibility analyses. Also, a preliminary 3D model, and preliminary electrical design and one-line diagram was provided. Commonwealth provided the site layout and general arrangement for the project. Also, capital cost estimates and electric utility tariff review and cost evaluation were provided to successfully meet the client’s needs.
